Jatiyo Smriti Soudho Saver Dhaka Bangladesh

Jatiyo Smriti Soudho is a famous national martyrs' memorial in Bangladesh. It is located at Saver, near to Dhaka. It is a fascinating place to visit as it reminds us of the sacrifice of the national heroes in the liberation war in 1971.

Architect Sayed Mainul Hossain designed the monument. The plan for the memorial was initiated in the year 1972 after the liberation war. After the selection of the site for the memorial, a nationwide design competition was initiated in the year 1978. After the evaluation of 57 submissions, the design of Syed Mainul Hossain was approved. The main structure, artificial lake, and other facilities were completed in the year 1982.

The monument consists of seven isosceles triangular pyramid-shaped structures and the middle one is the tallest. The highest point of the monument is 150 feet. There is an artificial lake around the monument which has enhanced the beauty of the spot. There are several mass graves in front of the main monument. The central monument is made of concrete and the other structures around the monument are made with red colored bricks.

The compound of the monument is spread over an area of 84 acres of land. The monument contains a helipad and parking facilities as well.

People who are from abroad or out of Dhaka can come to this tourist spot by air. They have to land at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka. The distance from the airport to the monument is about 28.9 kilometers via the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway. One can also go to Savar very easily by bus from any part of Bangladesh. If one chooses a highway, then he or she has to get down at the Nobinagar bus stop and then reach the monument. The monument is not so far from the bus stop.
