Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam ( কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম ) was born at Churulia in Bardhoman districts, West Bengal, India. We know him as a poet, writer, composer, singer, and revolutionary. So he is well known as Bidrohi Kabi. Dhukho Mia was his boyhood name. Once he had joined the British army He had written many poems and songs. Both are very popular among the Bengali people. He is the national poet of Bangladesh.

He has two sons. Pramila Devi was his spouse. His notable works are Chal Chal Chal, Bidrohi, Agniveena, Dhumketu, Bandhan Hara, and Nazrul Geeti. He is very famous for his romantic songs.

He was brought to live in Bangladesh on 24 May 1972 after independent of Bangladesh. In January 1976, the Bangladesh government granted him citizenship of Bangladesh He was buried close to a mosque on the University grounds of Dhaka. He died on 29 August 1976 at the age of 77 years.
