It is the world’s 11th longest bridge and 6th in South Asia. It is the biggest bridge in Bangladesh. Its length is about 5.63 kilometers. The width of the bridge is about 18.5 meters. The longest span is about 100 meters. The name of the bridge was changed to Bangabandhu Bridge. Bangabandhu is the father of the nation. It connects Bhuapur on the east bank of the Jamuna River to Sirajganj on the west. It is a multipurpose bridge. The bridge contains both railroad and road for buses, trucks, and cars. The bridge is very crucial in the context of Bangladesh. It has improved the lifestyle and business activities of the people in the region. World Bank and Asian Development Bank contributed to the construction of the bridge.
