Sylhet Polytechnic Institute is one of the top ranked polytechnic institutes in Bangladesh which is concerned with providing best engineer education.
It is situated in Sylhet, a beautiful city in Bangladesh. The institute was established in the year 1955. In 1959 the institute was named as Sylhet Polytechnic Institute Bangladesh. It operates under Bangladesh Technical Education Board. The institute has an area of 20 acres of land. The mission and vision of the polytechnic institute is to provide quality engineering and mechanical education to the students and build up qualified engineers and mechanics in Bangladesh. As there are small number of engineering universities in Bangladesh the polytechnic institutes have been playing a very important role in creating skilled engineers and technicians.
Departments and Subjects
The institute provides engineering and diploma degree in various subjects. The subjects include computer technology, civil technology, mechanical technology, power technology, electronics etc. Highly capable and devoted teachers are engaged in conducting the courses for these subjects.
Facilities Available for the Students:
The institute offers a lot of facilities to the students. It has three stored academic building and two boy hostels. The institute has one women hostel. There are a mosque and two fields for the students. It has a deep pond with clear water in it. It also contains quarters for the teachers and staffs within the campus area. The campus is surrounded by various trees including mango, coconut, and jackfruit and pine tree.
Admission Procedure and Eligibility
To be eligible for the admission the students must have passed the SSC or equivalent examination with GPA 3.00 or 60% marks.
The students must have GPA 3.00 in General Mathematics or Higher Mathematics to be able to apply for the admission test.
The admission test is taken by Directorate of Technical Education and the admission form is available in its website. Before form fill-up, TK. 200 has to be paid by Teletalk SMS to 16222.
