Dhaka Chamber Commerce is a trade body in Bangladesh. It is in Dhaka at Motijheel. Nickname is DCCI.It helps trade for the local and international business organization for export and import also to catering their demands in penetrating into a new market. The DCCI is an LTD company under the Companies Act. It was established in 1956. It is a leading chamber of Bangladesh business community.
It was established in the year 1958 according to the Bangladesh company act of 1913 which was later revised in the year 1994. The bank is the largest trade body in Bangladesh with its vibrant nature. It has many members. The members of this renowned trade body include- importers, exporters, industrial conglomerates, small and manufacturing enterprises and manufacturers. The primary objective of the chamber is to promote investment in the private sector to reduce unemployment and increase investment. It works for the development of the overall industry. It provides suggestions to the government and other trade bodies through extensive research activities. The institute has been playing a vital role in the development of the overall economic condition of Bangladesh.
It is a research institute working for the elaboration of the investment and the economy of Bangladesh. They publish vVarious research papers on different sectors of the economy. Through these research activities, the trade body gives important suggestions to the owner of the industries or the industry leader to decide what to do and not to do. Major research publications by DCCI include- Annual Reports, Commercial History of Bangladesh, Annual Reports, Economic Policy of CIPE, Business Startup License a Regulatory Guide, and Handbook of Entrepreneurship Development.
DCCI arranges regular seminars and workshops to publish their research papers and discuss various problematic issues in the economy needed to be improved. Besides seminars it also organizes workshops.
This organization gives training and workshops on many subjects. They are Human Resource Management, Income Tax Planning, Garments Costing and Merchandising Operation, Uniform Customs and Practices for Documentary Credit, Leadership Development, Risk Management, and Business Communication.
It also arranges various workshops and seminar according to the training need of the members' companies. For this, the institute runs a training need assessment for the employees for the respective member company or industry.
It also has many projects for the development of various sectors of Bangladesh economy. Major projects under DCCI include- The Modernization and Automation of the Customs House, NTF 2 Project, SWITCH-Asia Re-Tie Bangladesh, and Technology Information Service Center with WIPO.
DCCI has owned some awards since its establishment because of its performance and contribution in the economic development of Bangladesh. It achieved World Chambers Competition Award in the year 2007, CACCI Local Chamber Award in the year 2010, ISO certification, MLS- SCM best partner award 2010. There are many other awards won by Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
DCCI has been working in collaboration with UNDP, UNCTAD, WTO, ESCAP, NIDA, ITC, CBI, World Bank, ICC, ZDH, JICA and many other international influential trade bodies for the development of the country. It engages in various joint projects with these international trade organizations to promote business and protect the climate.
